25 July Why blogging is like going to the gym[Sigh.] It's been a while since i"ve written something productive here. As I'm discovering, blogging is like going to the gym. You like going, you get really gung ho about it for awhile and then.... Something happens and you don't get to it. You know, oh, I'll post tonight and it never happens.
So, I'm posting something. Pardon the randomness but I'm working my way back into the routine.
Today, I spent an inordinate amount of time setting up my server with the latest Office Server/Project Server builds. I had seen a presentation on WSS workflow and wanted to see more. To get the full workflow experience, I needed Office Server. To boot, I also loaded SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 as I'm working on a report pack for Project Server.
I found out that if you do all of that, everything wants port 80 and nothing comes up correctly. So, set up SSRS to another port if you are going to set it up on the same server.
As for the workflow I mentioned, it would seem that if you implemented a state machine which read a WSS list to get the workflow details, you could add workflow to Project 2007. If anyone wants to try it out, let me know how it turns out. Windows Workflow Foundation is the basis for the WSS workflow implementation. So, theoretically, you could use WWF to implement workflow for Project if you use WWF with our new PSI methods. You can read more about WWF here: http://wf.netfx3.com/
